The library, located in the Hummel Learning Center, first opened in October, 1990. The collection consists of approximately 33,000 items and 160 periodicals, supplemented by seven online databases with Internet access. An extensive music CD collection (over 10,000) is available with suitable equipment for listening, as well as many videos and DVDs with appropriate viewing facilities. Our online databases (Lexis/Nexis, ProQuest, Accessscience, ABC-Clio History, Gale Literary Reference Center, Encyclopedia Britannica and Oxford English Dictionary) hold thousands of abstracts and full text articles from journals, newspapers, and reference books. There is also a comprehensive microfilm/microfiche collection. EOSI/GLAS series is our online cataloging system and is available through the School network. The library holds several unique works that were gifts from greaduates, including a Nuremburg Chronicle, a page from a Gutenberg Bible, a 13th Century Bible, and a copy of Canterbury Tales, among others. Study carrels loaded with dataports
are located throughout the library, as well as several small workrooms, two separate
viewing rooms, and casual gathering areas. |
