The Rev. Gideon L.K. Pollach
Head Chaplain, Theology
M.Div. General Theological Seminary
B.A. Trinity College

A graduate of St. Albans School, Gideon will return to the Northern Virginia area this January to assume the responsibilities of Head Chaplain at EHS. He earned his bachelor’s degree in music from Trinity College, where he was awarded the Morris Prize for outstanding academic achievement. He was also granted the Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship, which affords students the opportunity for independent research outside the United States. Gideon used the fellowship to study the practices of English cathedral and college choirs and was a visiting scholar at Cambridge University in England. He also graduated cum laude from General Theological Seminary in New York.

Gideon was clerk to the Rt. Reverend Peter James Lee, Bishop of Virginia, after his time in England. He later served as director of Christian education at Christ Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Va., where he planned and executed educational programs for the children, youth, and adults of this 2,500-member parish. He also served as director of youth ministries at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, a similar role with a focus on education and outreach for middle and upper school students.

Prior to coming to Episcopal, he was an associate rector at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York City, tasked with primary responsibility for young adult ministries while sharing with his colleagues the general pastoral, teaching, and preaching duties appropriate for the clergy. Gideon will live on campus with his wife, Sarah, who is completing her master’s degree this fall in geriatric nursing at Columbia University.
