Kim became chair of Episcopal’s Science Department after serving eight years as an associate professor of chemistry at Loyola College in Maryland. She was a tenured professor teaching general and analytical chemistry and a research associate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. She was actively involved with students as a core advisor to a group of first-year students, a member of the freshman advisory board, and a dormitory mentor. She also chaired the undergraduate student research and scholarship committee, which annually showcased to the Loyola community the academic work of over 100 students and faculty. In addition to her responsibilities in the Science Department, Kim serves as a member of the Harrison Dorm team, as an advisor to the yearbook, “Whispers,” and to the Science Olympiad team. When asked what she likes most about teaching at Episcopal, she shared that she enjoys “seeing students find their passion in the art gallery, on the playing field, or perhaps in my chemistry class. I love seeing young people grow and discover something about themselves as they gain academic and personal confidence day by day.” Kim and her husband, Kaj, live on campus with their sons, Stefan and Erik. |
