After beginning his teaching career in Burlington, N.C., Whit arrived at Episcopal in 1987 and has been actively engaged in EHS students’ lives ever since. He teaches English, coaches the varsity golf and JV boys’ squash teams, and is a member of the evening study hall team.

Whit was awarded the Olsson Sabbatical for the 2006-07 school year; he used it to complete a second master’s degree at St. John’s College in Annapolis, Md., and Santa Fe, N.M.

Whit spent eight summers teaching Shakespeare to American college students in Oxford, England. At Episcopal, he enjoys teaching a spring Shakespeare elective to seniors and taking advantage of local theaters. Whit, his wife, Alison Grossman, and their children, Natalie and Jacob, live on campus.
