Jackie assumed her responsibilities as assistant head for academics in July 1998, and she brings to the position a unique blend of experiences at EHS. She previously served as assistant head for student life, chair of the Science Department, and director of studies. In her current role, she strives to “help the faculty bring cohesiveness and richness to the curriculum and assure that the students have the opportunity to achieve their academic best.” Jackie values the inquiring mind and believes in the challenge of constantly striving to be all that you can be. She encourages students and faculty to value differences and to keep an open mind in order to understand and explore this complex world.Jackie began her teaching career at University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe, Mich., and she eventually headed its Science Department. She also taught science at Blackheath High School in London, England, while pursuing a master’s degree in the history of science at the University of London.In addition to overseeing academic life at Episcopal, Jackie teaches AP physics, is part of the administrative duty team, and lives on campus with her husband, EHS English teacher John Walker.
