Prior to joining the faculty of Episcopal, Tyler spent three years at the Laguna Blanca School in Santa Barbara, Calif., where he taught AP European history and world history, served as the head coach for the boys’ varsity soccer and baseball teams, and was the 10th grade dean. At EHS, Tyler teaches AP European history and electives on topics such as the Great Depression and Second World War, the Cold War, and the 1960s. He enjoys teaching at EHS because of the “bright and hard-working students, smart and personable faculty, unified and supportive administration, and the ability to shape minds while continuing to learn and grow as an instructor, mentor, and friend.”In addition to teaching history at Episcopal, Tyler also serves as 11th grade dean, assistant coach of the boys’ junior varsity soccer team, and assistant coach of the varsity baseball team. When he is not teaching and coaching, he spends time reading, following collegiate athletics (especially U.Va.), and dreaming of returning to surf Rincon on an Al Merrick long board. Tyler and his wife, Tristan, live on Dalrymple Dorm with their daughter, Madalene, and two cats, Lucy and Smee.
