The daughter of public school teachers, Joey has always known and loved the rhythm of the academic calendar and the energy that flows during the learning process. She has spent her life studying music and is delighted to work in a school that so whole-heartedly supports the arts.As the principal French horn player at the University of Houston, she had the opportunity to play in top-quality ensembles at the university and in the surrounding area. She now enjoys conducting the EHS Orchestra and occasionally playing with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.Fully immersed in life at EHS with her husband, science teacher Joe Halm, Joey finds great joy in working with so many talented musicians, students and faculty alike. She happily spends most of her out-of-classroom time with her three children. She also jumps at opportunities to play her horn, enjoy an afternoon run in the woods, and sing with the EHS faculty band. Joey was awarded the Olsson Sabbatical for the 2007-08 school year and is working on a master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Loyola College in Maryland.
