Wortie is a graduate of Collegiate School in Richmond, Va., where he taught history and math for seven years after graduating from Princeton University. While at Collegiate, he served as head coach of both varsity lacrosse and wrestling before attending business school at the University of Virginia’s Darden School. After working in investment banking, he returned to education when he joined the Episcopal faculty in 2003. In 2007, Wortie earned his master’s degree in private school leadership from Columbia University.

In addition to his responsibilities as dean of students, Wortie teaches history and coaches varsity wrestling and lacrosse. He lives on Hummel Dorm with his wife, Courtney, their daughter, Giles, and black lab, Austin.
