As Episcopal’s learning specialist, Anita considers herself to be a coach of sorts – helping young people to become better students. Using “diagnostic teaching,” she is able to assist with academic work while discovering each student's strengths and weaknesses. She helps students understand their unique learning profiles and encourages them to persevere, work hard, and advocate for their own needs. Anita works with students to develop more effective study techniques, prioritize their responsibilities, and manage their time. In addition to her daytime responsibilities, she is a member of the evening study hall team.
Before coming to Episcopal, Anita was the director of diagnostic services for the Developmental School Foundation and the education director for the Foundation Intermediate School. Anita lives in Alexandria with her husband, Peter. They have two children, Megan and Patrick.
