Viviana R. Davila

Before Before arriving at EHS, Viviana was the classroom assistant and assistant instructor for professor and syndicated columnist Colman McCarthy at the University of Maryland. She also worked for Esperanza, Inc., in Ohio, where she created a computer-training curriculum for secondary school and college students. Additionally, while working full-time at The Washington Post, Viviana tutored Spanish at Episcopal, which led to a position at the School.

Viviana attended Middlebury College, where she played lacrosse and field hockey. While in college, she also coached those sports at Middlebury Union High School and served as a Spanish tutor. In 2001-02, she received the Olsson Sabbatical and completed a master’s degree in Spanish literature. Viviana plans to pursue a doctorate in linguistics.

Viviana has been teaching AP, honors, and regular Spanish at Episcopal since 1994 and received the 2007 Alexandria Education Partnership Excellence in Education award. Currently, Viviana coaches the girls’ varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams, is the coordinator for the Spanish Department, and is a member of the Evans Dorm team. In addition, she serves on the board of trustees for her alma mater, St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, Del. Viviana lives on campus with her husband, Derrick, their daughters, Nina Isabella, Elisa Jolie, and Alani Giselle, and their Jack Russell terrier, Toby.
