In 1979, Jim graduated from Episcopal as a Senior Monitor and member of the Honor Committee. He attended Wake Forest University as a Carswell Scholar and then studied religion and education at Yale. He returned to Episcopal as a physics teacher in 1986.Jim is the chair of the Discipline Committee, coaches cross country and kayaking, and serves as a member of the activities team, in addition to teaching physics. While on sabbatical in 1997, he attended New Mexico State University, where he earned a second master’s degree in physics and astronomy. Jim also enjoys coaching his children’s soccer teams and fishing on the Potomac and in the boundary waters of northern Minnesota. He lives on campus with his wife, Kathleen, and their children, Zach ’05, Grace ’08, and Joslyn.
