Kathleen joined the Episcopal faculty in 1992 after working for George Washington University and the National Institutes of Health, where she conducted AIDS and cancer research. At Episcopal, she teaches biology and physics and coaches JV tennis and varsity lacrosse. Kathleen is part of the Hoxton Dorm team, and she also serves as an 11th grade dean. In describing her educational philosophy, Kathleen stated “I am passionate about what I teach and coach. I want to engage young minds, captivate them, and make them love the subject. We are partners in the learning process, and I try to make science relevant to their lives so they see the value in what they are learning.”
She stays current in her field by participating in scientific societies and continuing her research. Kathleen was awarded the 2007 Frontier Fellowship from the American Physiological Society, a yearlong fellowship to enhance teaching by inquiry that also includes a summer research job at Georgetown University.

Her hobbies include photography, horseback riding, skiing, and running.

Kathleen and her husband, Doug, live on campus with their sons, Scott ’08 and Quinn. They enjoy spending time together at the beach or in France.
