The College Counseling Office provides research resources and guides students in using the Internet and other tools to gain information about colleges, scholarships, and SAT and ACT testing.
- EHS 2011 College Fair
Students are encouraged to consider a wide range of possible college choices, exploring everything from what fields of study interest them to what type of campus community appeals to them, ultimately leading them towards discovering the best match between student and college.
Episcopal's residential community provides opportunities for the college counselors to work closely with students. As a result, the counselors know the students well, and can therefore advocate strongly and work diligently to convey each student's strengths. An EHS education prepares students for success at the nation's most academically challenging colleges and universities, and we believe that students will find satisfaction in their college selection when they dedicate themselves to the pursuit of excellence and to the joy of learning and self-discovery throughout the college application process.
College Counseling Staff
The College Counseling Office is open and accessible to all EHS students and their parents. The office’s library offers extensive resources to assist students in the college research process, including college catalogs and videos, guidebooks and directories, and computer and web resources. The college counselors are available for consultation throughout the year and encourage students to begin the exploration process early.
Parents are encouraged to meet with members of the college counseling staff when they come to campus and to telephone or email the staff with questions whenever they come up. College counselors also participate in Parents’ Weekends and are available for individual meetings at that time.
Admission officers from 70-80 colleges and universities across the country schedule individual visits to EHS each year to meet with interested prospective students and the college counselors. Meeting with these representatives is a good way to learn more about colleges and to allow the visiting admission officers to meet interested students.
EHS also welcomes more than 175 college representatives to our College Fair each October, providing students with an excellent opportunity to talk with admission offices and to learn more about various colleges.
Process Timetable
While students are encouraged to take advantage of the resources of the College Counseling Office throughout their time at EHS, the formal college planning process takes place in the following stages:
