Afternoon Programs

Episcopal's varied afternoon programs (athletics, dance, the arts, and community service) are incorporated into our curriculum. They offer students a wide range of new experiences and help each EHS student pursue his or her strengths and interests.

Athletics

EHS fields forty-three interscholastic teams (including junior varsity teams) in fifteen different sports.

Community Service

Activities in the community service program vary each year depending on the schedules and needs of local organizations. Students often work as tutors in local elementary schools and as volunteers in day care centers and homeless shelters.

Applied Journalism

Students participating in this activity produce the School's yearbook, Whispers, and learn about journalistic writing, photography, and layout, as well as other practical publishing techniques.

Dance

Dance is open to both boys and girls in any season. Offerings vary each season, and include ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Students taking the winter jazz offering are cast in the winter musical. Currently, twelve dance classes are offered each week, allowing students to “specialize.” Evening classes are open to everyone.

Drama

Drama students produce a play each season for the School community. Students act, dance, build scenery, operate the lighting and sound systems, and help plan, direct, choreograph, and produce these plays. The winter play is usually a musical.

Portfolio Art

This activity offers a chance for the serious art student to build an art portfolio under faculty direction. Most frequently, these students participate in Advanced Placement art courses or have demonstrated strong interest in art through another course.

Earthfest

Theater Orchestra

Students in this activity perform as part of the winter musical’s pit orchestra. This activity is open to experienced musicians who are accepted after an audition in the first week of the season.
